I met Maria through local playwrite, Tom Cardin. Maria had written three songs for Todds new play, "Finish the Play" which was performed at ETC Theatre.
I was hired to provide the background music so that Maria could sing her songs during the play. Later, Maria came to my studio and tracked the final lead vocals.
I played all guitars and bass, used sequenced drums, and we hired a synth player to lay down string pads and a french horn part.
For vocal tracking I used my new dbx 160A Compressor / Limiter. It really helps in handling Marias great dynamic range without squashing the life out of the vocal. On some tracks I doubled her voice and added a touch of delay to one track.
